ABOUT ME

I’m the author of Edendale, which was a literary finalist in the 2020 Forward INDIES Book of the Year Awards, and Asterwood, forthcoming from Delacorte Press in December 2025. Edendale is for adult readers and Asterwood is for a middle grade audience and up. My short stories and book reviews have been published in magazines like Joyland, No Tokens, Necessary Fiction and more. I’ve received some career-changing institutional support over the years from organizations such as the New York State Summer Writers Institute, the Community of Writers, and Tin House.

I got my bachelors in English from Georgetown University and my MFA in fiction from New York University. I co-founded LA’s literary reading series Something Something with Annabel Graham.

“I think the world would be a better place if more adults read children’s literature.”

My art tends to spring from my love of nature, my advocacy for a more sustainable, equitable economic system, and my curiosity about the human spirit. I think the world would be a better place if more adults read children’s literature.

When I’m not writing, I like to spend time in nature. I’m an avid backpacker and a backwoods camper, I love to sail and kayak, and I don’t think there’s any feeling in the world as good as diving into a breaking wave. I’m a native New Englander nursing a lifelong enchantment with the green summers of the northeast, currently living in and exploring the stunning state of California. My daughter and my husband are my adventure partners. They, plus our little cat, are my whole heart.

I’ve loved making up stories since I was a kid playing pretend in the woods behind my house in Derry, New Hampshire. I still can’t believe that my job is to use my imagination all day long. What luck!
